Acertys takes part in the IAP2 North-American Conference in Portland from September 9 to 11, 2015

In light of the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) North American Conference held this year in Portland Oregon, two members of the Acertys team in partnership with a representative from Ipsos Reid will be presenting and facilitating a session on the topic of “Millennial” engagement in public consultation processes.

Preventing and resolving conflicts tied to project development – September 30, 2015

This training session was developed by Acertys to provide participants with basic knowledge and practical tools to better understand and take action when faced with conflictual situations, particularly in the context of complex and controversial projects. Acertys is looking for students or recent graduates to support our participation activities from time to time on a diversity of projects. The activities may include :
  • Acting as a facilitator at information kiosks
  • Carrying out surveys in public spaces
  • Providing logistical support at forums or other public meetings
  • Communicating with stakeholders
  • Organising and analysing results from these activities
By taking part in our projects, the selected candidates will be exposed to a diversity of participatory methods as well as many different stakeholders, urban and environmental issues and decision-making processes. They will develop concrete experience in public participation and stakeholder engagement.

IAP2 is seeking candidates for the Executive Committee of the St. Lawrence Chapter

Do you have a passion for promoting public participation and want to help build the profile of this profession across the regions of Eastern Ontario and Quebec?  You are invited to nominate yourself for a position on the new 2015-2017 Executive Committee of the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) St. Lawrence Chapter.
You will find information on the Chapter website regarding the roles and responsibilities of Executive Committee members and on the process to nominate yourself or someone else as a candidate.
The deadline for Nominations is January 26, 2015.
Please note that you must be a member of IAP2 Canada as of this same date in order to be considered as a candidate (information on membership here). 
Acertys is an active member of IAP2 and supports its activities through participation in the local Chapter and in Canada-wide initiatives.

See Acertys study on business practices of organizations as they relate to community relations

thumbnailOn October 29th 2010, Acertys released the results of a study of 21 industrial sector organizations in Quebec particularly impacted by the communities that surround them. Conducted in conjunction with HEC Montréal and the Conseil patronal de l’environnement du Québec (CPEQ), the study outlines the business practices of these organizations as they relate to local communities, within the context of growing pressure from the latter. The study also provides organizations with practical courses of action allowing them to benefit from more productive relationships with neighbouring communities.
